Last album bought: Anoraknophobia
Other Bands (former and current): Various bands; starting with bands that were formed from workshops at the SKVR (Stichting Kunstzinnige Vorming Rotterdam).
From time to time I get involved in other bands. One of the other bands I play in at the moment is GIN, a (blues-)rock cover band.
Favourite Marillion album
(Fish era):
Well, yeah all the albums have their strong points but I think Misplaced Childhood stands out above the rest.
Least Favourite album
(Fish era):
I think I'll go with Dennis and say Fugazi. I think it would get my lowest average score per track.
Favourite Marillion album
(h era):
Seasons End, the first Steve Hogarth album. A few Marillion fans have lost touch since Steve joined but not me.
Least Favourite album
(h era):
For me, marillion.com; I think there are too many "non-Marillion" numbers, with jazz influences here and there.
(By the way, and with all due respect: with jazz, I find it hard to avoid the impression that in some way or other the musicians playing on stage at any particular moment are not aware of each other's simultaneous presence on that same stage. But anyway, that's just me of course...)
Top 3 Marillion
songs ever:
That one I'm simply not going to manage, being allowed to mention "only" 3 numbers as my favourites. There are many more, it's as simple as that. Some numbers that I'd give nine or ten points out of ten are: Lords of the Backstage, Blind Curve, Incommunicado (sorry, Dennis...), Market Square Heroes, Easter, Hooks in You, King, The Great Escape, etc. So not exactly a top 3...
What do Marillion mean to me?:

Lots of things. First of all, obviously, there's the style of music: symphonic rock, in which "dynamics" is a keyword. Long pieces, instrumental, wonderful. Now and again a different beat from that eternal 1-2-3-4, 1-2-3-4 in most pop music...

And besides, the sound that's created, which includes a splendid guitar sound. And to me especially: the drummer and his particular way of playing. The man radiates complete calm and routine, as if at the same time he is also leisurely having breakfast and reading his morning paper... (and all that without the attention-begging, important, tough, "watch me doing lots of clever stuff" style of face-pulling that sadly characterises many other well-known drummers...).
